Nomination Package for Candidates

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the District of Coldstream will hold a General Local Election for the offices of one (1) Mayor and six (6) Councillors, and a vote on “District of Coldstream Public Works Building Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 1808, 2022”.


Nomination packages for Mayor and Councillors are now available to pick up at the District of Coldstream Municipal Hall during regular office hours, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, or you can download the Nomination Package.

Candidate nomination forms must be submitted during the nomination period between:

 August 30th at 9:00 am and September 9th at 4:00 pm

If faxed or emailed, the originals must be submitted by 4:00 pm, September 16, 2022 (see more Key Dates).

The package contains the official candidate nomination forms, a schedule of important dates and deadlines, a general information document with important contact information, regulations for political signage, a checklist for filing, and a few other useful documents.

FREE Candidate Readiness Educational Workshop

on August 17, 2022 at 5:30 pm

at the Dogwood Gymnasium in the Vernon Recreation Centre

(3310 27th Avenue, Vernon)

This Workshop is hosted by the City of Vernon, and open to interested candidates in the District of Coldstream, the City of Enderby, the Village of Lumby, and the Township of Spallumcheen.



You may run for local government office if you:

  • are a Canadian citizen; and
  • are at least 18 years old on election day; and
  • have lived in BC for at least six (6) months prior to the date of nomination; and
  • have not been disqualified from being nominated, elected or holding office.

You are not eligible to run for local government office if you:

  • are a judge of the Provincial Court, Supreme Court or Court of Appeal;
  • are an employee or salaried officer of the local government in which you intend to run for office (unless you have taken a leave of absence to run for office and agree to resign if elected);
  • have been found guilty of an elections offence, such as double voting or buying votes and are prohibited from holding office; or
  • are disqualified for not filing a disclosure statement in a previous election or for not making an oath of office or attending meetings.

Please note, you do not have to live in the jurisdiction for which you are running for office. You may only file nomination papers for either mayor or councillor, not both.
