Burning Permits can only be issued to landowners with parcels of 2 hectares (4.94 acres) or larger.

Please note that acquiring a burn registration number from the Province does not replace the requirement to obtain a burn permit from the District of Coldstream. The BC Wildfire Service does not issue permits for burns. It is the responsibility of the person conducting the burn to acquire a burn permit from the District of Coldstream and to follow the requirements of the District of Coldstream Fire Protection Bylaw No. 1712, 2018.
Special Open Burning Permits
Property owners may apply for open burning permits outside of the designated spring and fall burn periods for a non-refundable $50 fee. Permit approvals during this period will be considered by Council on a case-by-case basis, and will require a preliminary site visit from District staff.
To apply for an open burning permit outside of the designated spring/fall periods, please complete the application and return it to Municipal Hall with your $50 application fee. Applications will not be processed until payment has been received.
Open Burning Dates
Property owners may apply for open burning permits for designated periods of time each spring and fall. There is no fee to apply for permits during the designated times. Please complete the application form below to apply for an open burning permit.
Spring open burning dates are closed for 2022 - please check back in the fall.
